Cerocahui Mission ChurchSat 21 Sep
This was where I saw Tarahumari children running out of school down a hill towards their playground. They ran like track runners. It was natural to them and they're famous for it. They run marathons around the Sierra Madre in sandals made from old tyres.
I had just arrived in Cerocahui and heard the school bell announcing play time. The children streamed out of the gate next to the church. Hand in hand they walked in a crocodile supervised by Nuns. Soon they were running down a hill towards a level playing field with a sense of purpose that was a sight to behold. Between these children of the Tarahumari and the photos I found of a hacienda lies land that goes on for ever.
